As the drivers went from the paddock towards the lineup, the sunshine turned to heavy rain and extreme conditions. All teams quickly changed to wet tyres and sent out the drivers
Leander took the start and looked very comfortable in the rain, leading the race ahead of Erlend Olsen in second. Petrovic had a tough start and was challenged by Ludvig Bäck, who managed to pass Stevan for P3.
After a few laps, both Torbjörn Hallenheim and Jesper Fristed found themselves off the track after misjudging the level of grip in the heavy rain, prompting the deployment of the safety car.
Technical issues then occurred for several drivers in the field, causing Johan Leander, Stevan Petrovic, and Patrik Larsson to slow down and enter the pits. This meant that Leander dropped from the lead to P6, and Petrovic finished in P7.
Erlend Olsen did a great job once he took the lead from Leander and kept his cool all the way to the finish line. Ludvig Bäck managed to get by and had good pace to clinch P2 in the end, scoring valuable points for the championship.
Championship leader Erik Stillman looked like he was in for a tough afternoon, but somehow managed to drive himself into contention and scored the last podium spot in the race.
Tomorrow we race again, as Race 2 and Race 3 take place here at Gelleråsen Arena.
