Hedberg on Pole with Record Lap at Mantorp

Hedberg takes maiden pole with new lap record at Mantorp Park

Rasmus Hedberg delivered a breakthrough performance in qualifying at Mantorp Park on Friday, securing his first-ever Radical Cup Scandinavia pole position with a new lap record.

The FH Racing driver left it late, setting a time of 1:15.772 on his final run after a red flag disrupted the session. Morten Strømstedt had gone off midway through qualifying, which brought the session to a temporary halt. At that point, championship leader Sebastian Schou sat provisionally on pole.

Once the track went green, Schou improved but it was not enough. Hedberg’s final lap edged the STEP Motorsport driver by just 0.139 seconds to take pole and earn the Sekvens Pole Position Award.

Stevan Petrovic ended the session third quickest for RCR Sweden but will drop three grid places for Race 1 due to a penalty carried over from the previous round at Ring Knutstorp.

Earlier in the day, Mikael Bern topped the opening test session before Schou responded in Test 2, setting the benchmark heading into qualifying. With times tightly matched throughout the top ten, Saturday’s races are shaping up to be among the most competitive of the season so far.
