The first race of the Radical Cup Scandinavia at Ljungbyhed Motorbana kicked off under drying conditions, with wet patches adding an extra challenge on the main straight. Erlend Juan Olsen, starting from pole position, delivered a masterful performance to secure victory in a race marked by intense competition and strategic driving.
The race began with an unexpected twist as a car encountered issues during the lap to grid, prompting the safety car to be deployed before the start. The field lined up in single file behind the safety car, adding to the anticipation. As the green flag waved, Olsen capitalized on his pole position, getting a strong start and quickly pulling away from the pack.
Johan Leander followed closely in second place with Stevan Petrovic in third. The top trio quickly established a significant gap over the rest of the field, demonstrating their prowess and consistency.
A dramatic moment unfolded when Ludvig Bäck spun out of the last corner, losing ground to the entire field before he could get going again. This incident shifted the focus to the mid-field battles, where Gustav Emanuelsson, Jesper Fristedt, Rasmus Hedberg, and Jørn Martin Aalerud engaged in high-intensity racing, with numerous position changes keeping the spectators on edge.
Emanuelsson emerged victorious in this mid-pack duel, securing fourth place, while Fristedt rounded out the top five. Despite a late surge, Leander was unable to close the gap to Olsen, who clinched the first win of the weekend.
As we look forward to the main day of the race weekend, with a larger crowd expected, the excitement and competitive spirit are sure to intensify. Here are the full results from Race 1
