Leander wins race 2 at Rudskogen

Race 2 at Rudskogen delivered a rollercoaster of drama and unexpected twists that reshaped the championship landscape. Erlend Juan Olsen started from pole position, with Rasmus Hedberg alongside him, setting the stage for what promised to be a fierce battle at the front. However, it was Lars-Bertil Rantzow who capitalized on a strong start from the second row, taking the lead into the first corner. Hedberg, attempting to hold his position on the outside, found himself shuffled down the order as cars on the inside took advantage.

The race took a dramatic turn when Jørn Martin Aalerud, braking too late into Turn 1, locked up and cut across the inside. Unfortunately, as he rejoined the track, he collided with both Stevan Petrovic and Olsen, forcing both out of the race. Aalerud managed to continue, but the incident brought out the Safety Car, with Rantzow leading the pack.

Upon the restart, Johan Leander, Hedberg, and Ludvig Bäck occupied the top three spots in the PRO SR3 category. Meanwhile, Erik Stillman was handed a 10-second penalty for overtaking under the Safety Car, further shaking up the order.

In the later stages of the race, a battle between Aalerud and Kim Karlsen escalated when Karlsen made contact with Gustav Emanuelsson in the final sector, leading to the retirement of both drivers. The incident left the track clear for the remaining leaders to continue their fight.

The final twist came on the last lap when Rantzow, who had been leading overall, spun in Turn 1, dropping from first place to fifth by the time he crossed the line. This unexpected error handed the overall win to Leander, with Hedberg taking second and Aalerud recovering to finish third.

The results left championship leader Petrovic and Olsen with no points, allowing Leander to gain valuable ground in the standings. With Race 3 on the horizon, Petrovic and Olsen will start from the last row on the grid, while Leander lines up on the second row. Stay tuned for more action as the battle for the championship intensifies!
