Interview with Philip Victorsson “A Rising Star on the Racetrack”

Frillesås’ own racing talent, Philip Victorsson, has achieved remarkable success in the world of motorsports at just 18 years of age. Starting his career in karting at the tender age of 6, Philip has demonstrated his prowess on the racetrack time and again. Over the years, he has amassed an impressive list of victories and podium finishes in various racing categories, both in Sweden and internationally.

At 14, Philip transitioned from karting to formula racing, and in the following three seasons, he secured two Swedish Championship (SM) silver medals and one gold. This early success paved the way for his further career. Supported by prestigious scholarships from the Ronnie Peterson and Essebro-Anecto Memorial Funds, Philip has established himself as a promising star in motorsports.

In an exclusive interview with us, Philip shares his thoughts and experiences from the past 2023 season, where he competed in the Radical Cup Scandinavia.

What made you choose Radical Cup Scandinavia for the 2023 season?

Philip: We chose Radical because it’s one of the fastest racing classes in Sweden. It was also a natural choice as the opportunity to compete abroad is currently too big a step for us.

Was it a big adjustment moving from Formula racing to a Radical SR3?

Philip: The biggest adjustment was that I couldn’t see the tires and that you sit on the right side of the car. But I quickly adapted to these changes.

What was the highlight of the season?

Philip: The highlight for me was the race in Falkenberg, where I won two victories and set a new track record!

What do you think about the series and the setup of Radical Cup Scandinavia?

Philip: The setup has been good. There has been a reasonable amount of time between each race, and we’ve had many opportunities to practice.

How did it feel to drive the SR10 at Mantorp Park and the Grande Finale?

Philip: It was an incredible experience and something I’ll never forget. The SR10 is a fantastically fun car with great power in the engine. It was exciting to test the fastest car Radical has to offer.
