Hampus Ericsson Joins Radical Cup Scandinavia for Season Finale

Radical Cup Scandinavia is thrilled to announce that Hampus Ericsson will be joining as a guest driver at the championship’s final round, taking place on September 13-14 at Ring Knutstorp. Ericsson, a rising star in the racing world with an impressive résumé that includes series such as Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and British F3, is expected to bring an exciting edge to the competition. We caught up with him ahead of his debut to get his thoughts on the upcoming race.

With a break in your regular racing calendar, you’re stepping in as a guest driver in Radical Cup Scandinavia for the finale at Ring Knutstorp. What are your thoughts ahead of the weekend?

I’m super excited! It’s going to be really thrilling and fun to race on Swedish soil again after moving to European circuits this year. I’m especially excited to race in a Radical, as I’ve heard so many great things about the car. The championship itself seems very professional, with a lot of talented drivers. Big thanks to my partners and Radical Sweden for making this possible!

Your preparations are almost nonexistent, and your first time in the car will be during the official test session. What are your goals for the event?

Yes, exactly. I’ve never driven the car before, and it’s been a few years since I raced on this track. But who doesn’t love a challenge? My goal is, of course, to have fun. It’s the final race of the season for RCS, and a championship will be decided, so I’ll need to keep that in mind as well.

What do you think about the competition you’ll face?

I know it’s going to be tough. When I was at Rudskogen last time, where RCS was racing, I got some insight into what happens behind the wheel and saw the level of the drivers I coached. It’s definitely going to be a challenge. There are many fast, young drivers, as well as more experienced racers, which makes for a tough combination!

What will be the biggest challenge?

The car, for sure. Since I’ve never driven a Radical before, adapting quickly will be key. I hope to draw on my experience from racing formula cars a few years ago, which might be the key to finding good pace over the weekend.

What attracts you to Radical Cup Scandinavia?

My immediate impression is that it’s a championship run by determined and professional individuals. The drivers are also top-class, and the car seems incredible. I believe that the mix of those things can be really successful. That’s why I wanted to try it out, and hopefully, I can help generate more interest for the series in Scandinavia, which I think it truly deserves.

“We’re thrilled to have made this happen, and I look forward to seeing Hampus get comfortable in the car. He’s an incredibly talented driver with a strong racing background and a great personality. I’m sure he’ll bring even more excitement to the racing at Ring Knutstorp. A warm welcome, Hampus!”

Ring Knutstorp will host a weekend full of adrenaline-pumping action, featuring both two and four-wheeled racing. STCC returns after its summer break, and fans can also enjoy time attack runs with Lamborghini Super Trofeo cars as well as tight battles in Pro Superbike and Aquila.

As if that weren’t enough, Saturday will feature an exhilarating FMX show, thrilling ride-alongs, autograph sessions, and other exciting activities for the whole family.

Don’t miss the highly anticipated season finale at Ring Knutstorp!
