Radical Cup Scandinavia’s visit to Ring Knutstorp delivered three different race winners, a remarkable debut, changing conditions and a championship battle that is now closer than at any point this season.
Sebastian Edvardsson made an immediate impression on his first weekend in the championship, while Erik Stillman, Ludvig Bäck and Rasmus Hedberg shared the race victories. For championship leader Stevan Petrovic, a weekend that started with an engine failure and no participation in qualifying or Race 1 ended with two recovery drives and a reduced championship lead.
Edvardsson makes his mark immediately
There was a new name at the top of the timesheets in qualifying.
Making his Radical Cup Scandinavia debut, Sebastian Edvardsson wasted little time getting up to speed in the Radical SR3. A lap of 57.978 put him on pole position, 0.314 seconds ahead of Ludvig Bäck, with Rasmus Hedberg just 0.046 seconds further back in third.
It was an impressive introduction to the championship and earned Edvardsson his first Sekvens Pole Position Award at the first attempt.
Missing from qualifying was championship leader Stevan Petrovic. An engine failure during Friday morning’s opening test session brought his day to a premature end. With an engine change required, Petrovic missed both qualifying and Race 1.
Stillman returns to the top step
With Petrovic absent, Friday afternoon provided an opportunity for his championship rivals.
Erik Stillman took full advantage. After starting fourth, Stillman came through to take his first Radical Cup Scandinavia victory since 2024.
Rasmus Hedberg finished second, 4.037 seconds behind the winner, while debutant Edvardsson converted pole position into a podium with third.
For Ludvig Bäck, Friday was more difficult. Starting from the front row, he had the pace to fight at the front but a late excursion cost him the chance of a podium and left him fifth at the finish.
Further down the order, Thomas Rørvang continued his progress in the SR3. After qualifying tenth following limited running, he worked his way forward to sixth in Race 1.
Bäck bounces back on Saturday
Saturday morning brought another close race and a very different result for Bäck.
The Vortex Performance driver bounced back from Friday’s disappointment to take his third career victory in Radical Cup Scandinavia, but he had to work for it. Hedberg remained with him throughout and crossed the line just 0.224 seconds behind.
Petrovic, meanwhile, finally got his weekend properly underway.
With a replacement engine installed overnight and no qualifying time from Friday, the championship leader started from the back. He worked his way through the field to cross the line fourth before Erik Stillman, who had initially finished third, was disqualified following the post-race technical inspection.
That promoted Petrovic to third, completing an unlikely podium less than 24 hours after his weekend had appeared to be in serious trouble.
He also recorded the fastest lap of the race with a 59.244.
Maiden victory for Hedberg
If Race 2 was close, the final race of the weekend provided even more drama.
Petrovic started from pole position and took the lead, but an excursion at Turn 1 dropped him down the order and left him with another recovery drive ahead.
At the front, Hedberg took his opportunity.
The FHRacing driver produced a composed drive to put himself in position for his first Radical Cup Scandinavia victory. Behind him, Petrovic recovered through the field and gradually closed the gap.
By the finish there was almost nothing between them.
Hedberg crossed the line just 0.311 seconds ahead to secure his maiden Radical Cup Scandinavia win, with Petrovic second after another comeback drive and another fastest lap.
Bäck also moved forward from fifth on the grid to finish third, adding another important result to his Race 2 victory.
Johan Auer also continued to show progress. Strong pace in Race 2 earned him P4 on the grid for Race 3, his best starting position of the season so far, before he brought the car home in sixth. Auer has quietly been adding speed and points throughout the year, and with the gap to the front continuing to come down, a first podium feels increasingly close.
For Hedberg, it was the breakthrough result after being a regular presence at the front throughout the opening part of the season.
Masters battle continues
The Masters Class produced its own battles throughout the weekend.
Ulf Johansson, Dag Johansson and Andreas Nilsson were all in action at Knutstorp, with positions changing between the three races.
Dag was the highest-placed Masters driver in Race 1, while Ulf led the group home in Race 2. Andreas then finished eighth overall in Race 3 to take the best Masters result in the final race.
With different drivers taking the advantage from race to race, the Masters fight remains closely contested heading into the final round.
Rørvang continues to move forward
Thomas Rørvang also showed clear progress over the Knutstorp weekend.
After joining the championship at Ljungbyhed, the STEP Motorsport driver continued to find speed and consistency in the SR3. He climbed from tenth on the grid to sixth in Race 1 and repeated that sixth-place finish in Race 2.
Race 3 ended early, but the pace shown across Friday and Saturday was another step forward as he continues to gain experience in the car and championship.
Championship fight closes up
Perhaps the biggest consequence of the weekend can be seen in the championship standings.
Petrovic arrived at Ring Knutstorp with a healthy advantage, but the engine failure and subsequent zero points from Race 1 gave his rivals an opportunity.
His two recovery drives on Saturday limited the damage considerably, but Bäck’s victory and third place, together with Hedberg’s two second places and maiden victory, have transformed the picture heading into the final round.
Petrovic remains on top with 233 points, but Bäck is now just 10 points behind on 223. Hedberg has moved to 218, only another five points further back.
Stillman sits fourth on 189 points after a weekend that included victory on Friday but also the costly Race 2 disqualification.
After nine races, the top three are separated by only 15 points.
Radical Cup Scandinavia now heads to Jyllandsringen in Denmark for the final three races of the 2026 season, with the Nordic Championship very much still to be decided.
